EL SEGUNDO, Calif. – Kobe Bryant is back – at practice, anyways.

Yet while the Los Angeles Lakers star had a successful second session with his team after his Achilles tendon tear in April put his storied career in so much peril, it remains unclear when he may return to game action.

When asked if he could see himself playing in the month of November, Bryant smiled and said, “I saw myself playing today.”

When pressed about playing in a game as opposed to practice, he said, “Yeah, yeah I can.”

The Lakers host the Golden State Warriors on Friday, though coach Mike D’Antoni said he sees it as impossible that Bryant would return so soon. Because it’s the always-mysterious and ambitious Bryant, though, D’Antoni quickly qualified his statement.

“Well, nothing is impossible, but that would surprise me – yes,” D’Antoni said.

hope you come back soon mamba…I just fractured my ankle 10 days ago I can finally walk with no limping and sustainable pain but it will be a while before I can sprint again but your road to basketball conditioning has been very inspirational to my rehab.

Wishing that Kobe could be able to play against Miami in December 25 2013!

Kobe I am just wishing you all the best in your successful return to the top. May you do it in your own time gracefully.
How well you play is by far more significant than how soon you return. I see Dec 20th a home game as a good possible return date? But whatever you decide I’m sure it will work out for the best.

You came back about 10 days earlier than I expected. But I know you know the best time to return. Obviously it will take a few games and/ or weeks to get comfortable with what your able to still do, and then test things by pushing a bit harder. All the best !

    Kobe,
I was devastated for you when I heard the news of your injury. I too am continuing to recover after a complete rupture of my Achilles while playing tennis on February 24th. My surgery was 3 days later. No athlete can understand what you physically and mentally go through with and injury like this, unless you’ve been through it yourself. I had a terrific surgeon, and an amazing team of therapists in my corner, whom I worked with for 7 months. I was/am extremely committed to my therapy and my continuing recovery. I was able to step on the court again in September (3 months earlier than expected), played my first competitive match in October and I’m back playing two or more times per week. I’m certain that you had your own amazing team in your corner and are as committed to your recovery as I was. For that reason, I have absolutely no doubt that you will be back very soon without much, if any limitations. Good luck to you and your continued recovery. I will be watching!!!! FYI, If you need another amazing sports trainer/therapist on your team, Ryan with Wellspan Health (York, PA) is your man!!
    Sincerely, Jayne Snyder

Kobe I wish u the very best luck in ur process of coming back..But my my concern is these sport analyst that rate u 25th and 13th best.. First of all Im 33yrs old and have watched a ton of players and never seen no one but one person who has done the things u have done so so easily. That person aint lebron either. People like Barkley who says lebron is better than u is crazy for one yall different cause he is like a magic ur like jordan. Even magic said jordan was better than him. ive never seen anyone score 60 sum points and sit the whole forth. I never seen a 2guard score 81 points .. not a 7foot monster playing with boys like wilt but 6 ft 6 in 2guard. ..ur never gon see lebron do those type of things. Trust me if he could he would have done.. I know sum will disagree but in my eyes ur one of the best to ever do it. Thanks for what u brung to the game

    KB24,

I’ve followed you and the Lakers for some time. I must admit I have not always been a big fan of yours. It was mainly because of the Shaq fiasco. It wasn’t until I saw the contrast between yourself and Shaq in your work ethic. You work hard and expect nothing short of a win every game. I respect your tenacity and dedication in your profession. Your a true professional and you go hard on ends of the court. Your competitive nature is unmatched by anyone in the game and the younger guns in the game now. Ballers like Lebron, Carmelo, Paul George and KD were clearly impacted by you. It was clearly noticeable that their games were turned up a notch after playing in the Olympics with you. Mamba, your confidence and swagger is admirable except, now your challenge is one you should place your confidence to the side. The Lakers have a big problem at the top. You have the wrong coach and this is not to take anything away from Mike D’Antoni I followed him in Phoenix. He is a fine coach if your philosophy is running up and down the court with little emphasis on D. KB24, your better than that. Its hard to stomach a Lakers game now when the opponent scores as much or more than us. Its amazing that your previous coach who’s record was just as worse as the current was fired and we are tolerating this….I would like to start the next year with a NEW HEAD COACH… and Carmelo along side you. He can learn a lot from you the best. What makes you the best is that you fundamentally the best player ever. Its your focus and the way you shoot ignoring all distractions including a player with his hand in your face.
