(David Brickley) – In game one of the first round against the Denver Nuggets on Sunday, Kobe Bryant led the Lakers to an impressive victory.
Early in the game Bryant missed eight of his first ten shots, but made nine of his fourteen attempts in the second half finishing with a game high 31 points.
Bryant also grabbed five rebounds, and dished out four assists.
While the Black Mamba was a huge reason the Lakers beat the Nuggets by 15, 103-88. Kobe would not take the credit, praising his teammates after the game.
“Andrew [Bynum] obviously will take the majority of the headlines with his triple double.” Bryant said. “But Pau [Gasol] was right behind him, two rebounds and two assists away [from a triple double].”
Bryant would go on to praise Steve Blake, Devin Ebanks, and gave props to Jordan Hill saying he had a monster game off the bench.
When asked how dangerous the Lakers can be when they play team basketball Bryant would say, “We’re a championship caliber team”
The Lakers look to go up 2-0 against the Nuggets on Tuesday. Game 2 is scheduled for 7:30pm PST, and will be televised on Fox Sports West and TNT.
