Kobe Bryant continues to climb up the list amongst the NBA’s greatest scorers. This time, Bryant passed Elvin Hayes for the 7th spot on the all-time scoring list.
Bryant’s historic basket came against the rival Oklahoma City Thunder during the 4th period. Kobe dribbled off a Gasol screen and hit a leaning runner-fadeaway to pass the “Big E.” Bryant finished the game with 17 points.
Elvin Hayes, also known as the “Big E,” was a solid defender who dominated the opposition on both the offensive and defensive end. Playing at least 80 games every season, Hayes helped lead the Washington Bullets to a NBA championship in 1978. A monster on the boards, the 6’11 power forward was also inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1989.
Next up on the list is the legendary Moses Malone (27,409 career points). Here is the updated list as of today 2/27/2010:
6.Moses Malone – 27,409
7. Kobe Bryant – 27, 320
8. Elvin Hayes – 27,313
